After a little break in December I would like to start this 2008 by posting one of the most recent emotional stories of a societal situation generated by art that I found. Maybe some of you heard in the 2004 that after 70 years the city of Guernika was bombed again, although unlike the last time in this occasion the inhabitants were bombed with poems. The survivors of the bombing in 1937 were clapping at the time that the sky was covered by the reflection of the poems that 3 chilean artists were throwing from an helicopter.
Something that is very attractive for me is that this action was performed to heal a society, to propose a transformation. As we all know, some nationalists in the Basque country have been using terrorism as a tool of expression against the Spanish government, thus, what is possible when a perception of terror is changed for Basque and Chilean poems?
Sorry that the video is in Spanish.
